The New York City Underground Comedy Festival TM celebrates stand-up comedy as an art-form. It was designed to showcase emerging talent along side headline acts in the hopes that it brings attention to comedians who might have otherwise been overlooked. With over 200 events in all five boroughs, and with classic clubs like Comic Strip Live, Gotham Comedy Club, and the Broadway Comedy Club set to participate, it is both an industry and consumer event for everyone. Adding to the festival feel is our dedication to bring comedy to every audience, and that is why we will kick off with a live event from Tompkin's Square Park. Events will showcase the ethnic and cultural diversity of New York City – virtually guaranteeing an event the entire city can rally behind! Past performers include Tough Crowd's Colin Quinn, HBO's Bob Nelson, Jim Gaffigan, Judah Friedlander and Chris Rock. The festival has even raised over $75,000 for our official charity, Operation Uplink. This year marks the Festival's 5th year, and we will celebrate by having shows in South Africa, Ireland, Hong Kong, and Australia. We have also partnered with JamNow.com to bring a global audience a live simulcast of events on the JamNow.com stage at Ha Comedy Club.
